Vermiculite is used for Insulation Purpose due to its Thermal and Acoustic Insulation Characteristics.
Vermiculite can withstand 1200 degrees celcius.
Exfoliated vermiculite, particularly in its finer grades, can be mixed on-site with Portland cement, various aggregates, rheological aids, and water to create lightweight and insulating roof and floor concrete screeds. Vermiculite-based roof screeds are often paired with other insulation materials, like polystyrene board, to form a complete roofing system. Additionally, a bituminous binder can be used with exfoliated vermiculite to produce a dry, lightweight roof screed, offering benefits such as low thermal conductivity, minimal moisture content, and ease of application by simply pouring from the bag and tamping.
